Kiera Chirdon was a tenth grader at the Altoona Area High School and miraculously survived for eight years with epithelioid sarcoma, a very rare form of cancer. There are only 100 cases of this type of cancer worldwide and to have survived eight years was a miracle.
Several years ago, Jack Andraka became Sideline Cancer’s first official Ambassador. Jack is a 19-year-old Stanford student, who, at only 15, invented an inexpensive sensor that can be used as an early detection device for pancreatic and other cancers.
In this month’s show Cathy first talks with 11-year-old Kiera Chirdon, who has a rare form of cancer. In the second segment, she hosts Jack Collins, CEO of Link Computer Corporation and Tom Kopriva, Executive Director of the Hollidaysburg Area YMCA. And finally she speaks with Cindy Kanski, Bethany Kanski and Amanda Ottoway, all of whom knew Greg Griffith well and are also involved in the yearly planning of Griff’s Run and Gun for a Cure. Greg Griffith and Kiera Chirdon’s paths were intertwined, and they seem to have been put on this earth for the same purpose.
They both were diagnosed with stage four cancer in the winter of 2010, attended Father William Kiel’s healing services together in Indiana PA, and share the same confidence that the Lord can and does heal.
