For the third summer in a row, the Sideline Cancer team is campaigning to play in The Basketball Tournament, or TBT, which is an open-application, 5-on-5 single-elimination, winner take-all basketball tournament.
Last year, the winning team took home $1 million.
This year, the winning team will take home $2 million!
Since TBT started in 2014, the Sideline Cancer team, under the management of Billy Clapper, has participated for the sole purpose of raising awareness and funding for Pancreatic Cancer research. If our team makes it to the finals and wins, a substantial portion of the winnings will be donated directly to cancer research.
HOWEVER, TO PLAY IN THE TOURNAMENT, OUR TEAM NEEDS VOTES!
To be eligible to play in TBT, all teams are required to have a minimum number of fans, with 1 vote equaling 1 fan.
We need 1000 fans, which means we need 1000 votes. Right now, we’re getting close to 700.
So we’re asking you to vote and became a fan.
Voting takes three to five minutes, but it’s free and there’s no other commitment after you vote (other than to cheer us on!).
BUT THE VOTING PROCESS DOES TAKE A FEW STEPS.
After you fill in your information to register to vote, you will get an email from TBT asking you to click on a “VERIFY” button to process your registration.
After you click on the “VERIFY” button, you will get another email from TBT to “CONFIRM” your registration.
You must click on this “CONFIRM” button to have your vote counted.
After you click on the “CONFIRM” button, you will get a final email from TBT indicating that your vote has been counted.
In addition to a $2 Million prize purse, any team who participates in TBT can also benefit by the media coverage they can get. Multiple games throughout the tournament, including the championship game, will air on ESPN and ESPN 2.
Last year, the Sideline Cancer team made it all the way to the Sweet 16. Many of the team members from last year will be returning this year, so we have an outstanding chance to go all the way.
But again, to get make this happen, we need your vote!
