Sideline Cancer Scrimmage Day 2026

Sideline Cancer Scrimmage Day Brings Together 53 AAU Teams and 80 College Coaches for an Incredible Day of Opportunity

Every year, there are a few events that remind us why sports are about so much more than wins and losses. Sideline Cancer’s Annual Scrimmage Day is one of those special days.

Now in its 7th consecutive year, this incredible event has become one of the premier opportunities in Central Pennsylvania for girls basketball players to showcase their talent in front of college recruiters. For many athletes, Scrimmage Day is more than just another day on the court—it’s a chance to be discovered, build relationships with college programs, and take another step toward achieving their dreams of playing at the next level.

This year’s event, hosted at C3 Sports in State College, Pennsylvania, was another tremendous success thanks to the dedication of Mike and Cindy Reed, whose commitment continues to make this special day possible. Their passion for supporting young athletes and creating opportunities for college exposure has helped grow this event into one that coaches and teams look forward to every year.

The numbers tell the story:

  • 53 Girls AAU Basketball Teams
  • 80 College Coaches in attendance
  • Hundreds of talented athletes competing throughout the day

With so many coaches in one building, every possession mattered. Every hustle play, every assist, every defensive stop, and every display of teamwork became another opportunity for athletes to leave a lasting impression.

But while basketball filled the courts, the heart of the event extended far beyond the game.

Scrimmage Day also serves as an important platform to raise awareness for pancreatic cancer and the mission of Sideline Cancer. The organization was founded to honor Greg Griffith’s love for basketball while using the sport to make a meaningful difference in the lives of families facing cancer. Every event continues that legacy by bringing communities together around a cause much bigger than the final score.

Throughout the day, coaches, players, families, and volunteers all became part of something greater than basketball. They helped shine a light on pancreatic cancer awareness while supporting Sideline Cancer’s ongoing efforts to assist cancer patients and their families.

Events like this simply don’t happen without incredible people working behind the scenes. A heartfelt thank you goes to Mike and Cindy Reed for their countless hours of planning and dedication, as well as every college coach, team, volunteer, and supporter who made the day possible.

As another successful Scrimmage Day comes to a close, one thing is certain—the impact reaches far beyond the basketball court. New opportunities were created, dreams moved one step closer to becoming reality, and awareness for pancreatic cancer continued to grow.

Together, basketball continues to make a difference.
