Volleyball Game helps raise $1000 for Cancer Patient

Bigger Than Volleyball: A Night of Community and Hope at Mount Aloysius College

In September 2024, Mount Aloysius College hosted the second installment of the “Bigger Than Volleyball” rivalry game, an inspiring event that originated with Catherine Milkovich and the Lycoming College Women’s Volleyball Team in 2023. This year’s game continued the tradition of combining competitive sports with a heartfelt mission to support those battling cancer.

One of the evening’s most touching moments came when Michael Wilson, the father of Mount Aloysius Defensive Specialist Reghyn Wilson, was revealed as the honorary cancer patient for the night. The surprise announcement brought the crowd to tears as Michael, who recently received the fantastic news that his throat cancer is in remission, shared an emotional moment with his daughter.

The event was more than just a game; it was a testament to the power of community. Together, Mount Aloysius and Lycoming College raised $1,000. In a remarkable act of generosity, Michael chose to “Pay It Forward” by donating the funds to support the next family in need.

Thank you to Mount Aloysius and Lycoming College for hosting this incredible event and creating a night filled with hope, joy, and the spirit of giving. As we eagerly anticipate next year’s game in Williamsport, PA, we are reminded of the difference we can make when we come together for a greater cause.
